Location: Situated a short distance from the world acclaimed sandy beaches of Woolacombe Bay North Devon, the location offers beautiful walks & scenery, golf courses, combined with numerous local activities and interests.

Function Rooms & facilities:
The Fortescue has a number of function rooms that provide a mix of character, atmosphere and facilities to accommodate small parties and larger parties up to 150 guests, with the rooms available independently or linked for weddings and parties.

Ideal for small party’s The Red Room is a favourite, its atmosphere is warm and inviting, an ideal venue for parties up to 50 people. The layout and the seating plan can be tailored to the customer’s requirements to suit the size of the party, the access is excellent for disabled people.

Children’s play area: The Fort has a children’s play area which is both in & outdoor but in a secure area where the children only have one access point into the main function room entrance.

Disabled Facilities: The facilities provide for disabled people with a ramp at the front entrance together with a separate disabled toilet.

The main function room facility has the character and layout ideal for a wedding celebration, entering through the double doors, the initial area, the bride & groom greet their guests, then through an archway into the bar area where the guests receive their welcoming drinks. Moving into the main function room the table plan and seating arrangements can be configured for a formal wedding breakfast through to a buffet, party style. The room looks over the garden area and its décor has atmosphere both in the day and for evening parties. During the wedding reception, people can move between the rooms from the main function room area which accommodates the dance floor and the catering facilities into the bar area.

Managing The Day:
Our management team will work closely with the bride & groom, best man and immediate family, listen, action and advise on the wedding party, planning out the day’s events together, to ensure the celebration is a total success.

We will liaise with the best man to ensure the wedding goes smoothly, co-ordinating the photographer, the announcing of the names of the guests as the bride & groom and close family greet their friends & relatives. Announce the Bride and Bridegroom and escorting them to the top table, say grace. Other announcements like the cutting of the wedding cake, introducing the toasts, the speakers and organise and present if applicable the bouquets of flowers. If there is a wedding breakfast in the day and additional guests arriving on the evening for a party, we ensure that the layout of table plan is adjusted if applicable and liaise with the disco / live band set up for the party on the night,

The Fortescue can organise a toastmaster who will support the best man in making sure each task is completed successfully. As part of the package we will produce a full itinerary with actions on who does what and when, in this way everyone knows what is expected from the staff @ The Fort to the top table guests.

Smoked Salmon & prawns on a bed of mixed green leaves with a citrus dressing
Gala Melon served with a fruits of the forest compote
